What does style mean to you?
The style for me is to look at the world with different eyes capturing the beauty is in its simplicity and process it to make beautiful.
Have you always wanted to be a designer?
Since I was a child I’ve always worked as a “designer” … even if I’ve met people and situations that wanted to dissuade me.
Tell us a little about your educational and professional background
I’ve studied graphic design and photography. This kind of studies have greatly influenced the design of my clothes, in fact I try to make of my creations some unique designing prints.
After that I continued my studies in Catania, to ‘Euro-Mediterranean Academy of fashion. I’ve started to take its first steps in the fashion learning processes and techniques, ending after 4 years with a final parade. An internship in a tailor’s quarterly wedding dresses / groom and the departure to London for another internship with 4 emerging designers at the same time. I’ve learned to be dynamic (working for 4 people that have 4 different styles and techniques is not easy!) And to believe in my abilities. On the way back from London after three months, the harsh reality and the Italian elite restricted fashion made me realize that one should not give up, so in addition to trying again and again various competitions, I decided with the help of a colleague, to give create a collection of bags that currently is being run-in.
Give us a little insight into your creative process: where do you turn for creative inspirations and how do you first approach a new design?
I usually turn to instinct and to certain sensations, I observe a lot.
Many elements combined together create various sensations in me and allow me to create different pieces that have a common thread.
Needless to say, there are those moments of unbearable block, but then when you least expect it you see something that makes you rekindle the spark.
Is there anyone or a particular event that may have influenced you in becoming a fashion designer?
Well, I’ve always loved and watched my mom sew, and my grandmother and uncle were tailors….maybe my destiny it’s in the DNA!
Which other artists, designers, creative people do you admire and inspire you at the moment?
I like to watch the clothes of the past, but not a fashion designer in particular.
Although I have a love for Dior, and I loved John Galliano when he was the creative director of the Maison.
What would be your dream creative project?
Well as every fashion designer I would have my own brand.
How do you imagine the future fashion trends?
For the moment there is so much confusion in fashion.
This confusion can escalate or create something wonderful. The important thing is to remember that fashion is at the service of the people, it should make us dream.
